Frequently Asked Questions
DL is sized for a standard A4 letter folded into three, the most common choice for everyday correspondence. C5 fits an A4 sheet folded in half, or an A5 sheet flat, giving a bit more room without needing as tight a fold. C4 fits a full A4 sheet completely flat and unfolded, which suits anything you don't want creased, like certificates, reports or booklets.
It's a security lining printed on the inside of the envelope that stops the contents being read through the paper when held up to light, commonly used for anything containing personal or financial information. It can be left off if privacy isn't a concern for what you're sending, though it's a standard, low cost feature worth keeping for most business correspondence.
Beyond that coverage, ink usage and drying can start affecting how well the envelope seals and folds cleanly, since a lot of solid ink on folded card stock behaves differently to a smaller printed area. If you need something closer to full colour coverage across the whole envelope, it's worth getting in touch for a custom quote rather than assuming standard production will handle it the same way.
No, self-seal uses a peel-off strip with adhesive already applied, so you just peel and press to seal rather than licking or wetting the flap. It's a different, quicker sealing method to the gummed envelopes supplied with the greeting cards, so it's worth knowing which one you're getting if that matters for how you'll be using them.
The version with the template overlay lets you and us check your design sits correctly around the envelope's fold lines, flap and window cut-outs before anything's printed. The clean file without the template is what actually goes to print, so the overlay itself never ends up printed on the finished envelope.
