Our Foam Board Signs come in a range of materials, thicknesses, and sizes to suit your needs.
For a cost-effective yet high-quality foam board, 5mm KAPA®tex and 5mm KAPA®plast are excellent choices. KAPA®plast offers vibrant colours and sharp images, while KAPA®tex provides a textured, canvas-like finish. Both options are lightweight, making them ideal for hanging signs, retail promotions, and display boards.
If you need something more robust, our 10mm Smart-X® boards are the way to go. Being thicker yet lightweight, Smart-X® is perfect for direct digital printing, making it ideal for life-sized cutouts, exhibition displays, and wall-mounted signage. Available in dimensions up to 1500mm x 2800mm, Smart-X® is designed for both indoor and outdoor use, although prolonged exposure to extreme weather conditions is not recommended. For long-term outdoor signage, consider our Di-Bond Signs for added durability.
Our foam boards are easy to install and can be drilled into for secure mounting.

All paths must be stroke paths with no fill

Both are 5mm boards at a similar price point, the difference is mainly in the surface finish and how they're typically used, tex suiting general display and hanging signage, plast offering a slightly different surface characteristic for printing. For most everyday signage either performs similarly well, so it often comes down to whichever's in stock or suits your specific finishing needs.
The extra thickness gives it more rigidity and stability than the thinner 5mm boards, which matters for something like a standee or cutout that needs to stand upright on its own without warping or bending under its own weight. Thinner board works fine for a flat hanging sign, but a freestanding cutout benefits from that added structural support.
You can drill into foam board yourself afterwards if needed, it's soft enough to work with basic tools. That said, if you already know you'll need specific mounting holes, it's worth getting them added during production, since a clean pre-drilled hole will generally look tidier than one done by hand later.
You add an extra layer to your file using a specific spot colour to mark exactly where the board should be cut, separate from your actual printed design. That spot colour line tells the cutting equipment where to follow, rather than being interpreted as part of the visible artwork itself.
It'll cope with a dry outdoor event for a few hours without issue, but it isn't weatherproof and can warp or be damaged if it gets properly wet or is left out overnight. For something like a short outdoor wedding ceremony it's generally fine, but a Correx or Foamex board would be the safer choice for anything exposed to the elements for longer.
